Students transalate youth literature on peace and war

The translations were made both from BHMS and German, including four stories translated into German and English from the book The Moment I Knew the War Started – Lamija Begagić, Boris Mandić, Emir Imamović Pirke and Olja Savičević Ivančević, in cooperation with forumZFD. In addition, all translated stories also have their audio format, recorded and produced by students themselves. The project focused on cultural peculiarities and intercultural dialogue. With spotlight on adolescence and youth literature, the focus was on texts that are rather marginalized both on the translation market and in academic teaching.

The students-translators of the stories from the book The Moment I Knew the War Started were: Julian Woerfel, Jason Domzalski and Nermana Arnautović, Shaydon Ramey and Lena-Marie Forkel, with support from the Dr. Eva Kowollik and Dr. Tijana Matijević from the Department of Slavic Studies of the University of Halle-Wittenberg.

The website of the project, where you could read and listen to the stories is here
